Commonground November 2017

Commonground was pretty scary this time! We really didn't have a lot of work to do, so we just kinda got silly. It was Halloween after all :)

Welcome to Community 23rd February 2017

With so many new members, we decided to offer a formal welcome that allowed as much time as need be for questions to catch them up on all the biz. Feedback was positive, so we'll try to keep doing that. It a lot of fun for members too, getting to know people better right off the bat. With spectacular food as usual.

Commonground February 2017

More friends. More fun. More food. This biannual weekend at Commonground has become an institution for Urban Coup, where we get to have quality community time, a good dose of nature and the magic flows. So lucky to have the support of this wonderful Commonground community :)

First 'Near & Tall' Design Workshop

This day will stand out in my memory as one of the most joyous days of my life. Urban Coup has cracked on, through thick and this with perpetual faith that we would make this project work. So many twists and turns in the road. So many ups and downs. At this point in the journey we stand together stronger than ever: 24 committed Unit Holders, with Jeremy McLoad of Breathe Architecture / Nightingale Housing, Michael Roper and Nick James of Architecture Architecture insolidarity, knowing we now had the right team to complete this project. Exhilerating stuff! I wish I had a better picture. There is a funny film somewhere :)

Sustainable Living Festival 10-12th February 2017

Urban Coup never miss the chance to hang out with our biddies in the Cohousing Australia tent chattting about cohousing to anyone who will listen. Another great year with our friends at Commonground, Moora Moora, Murandakah, and YOU who made it special.

Alternative to Violence Project - Advanced Workshop

28-29 January and 4-5 February

The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) is a network of independent not-for-profit grass-roots volunteer groups offering experiential workshops on creative conflict transformation in prisons, schools, and the wider community. Urban Coup are eternally grateful to Bev and the Melbourne crew for their sharing in this special learning space.

These workshops empower individuals to liberate themselves and others from the burden of violence. The fundamental belief of AVP is that there is a power for peace and good in everyone, and that this power has the ability to transform violence. AVP builds on a spiritual basis of respecting and caring for self and others.

Information Sessions December 2016

We met so many great people at these Information Sessions. We had a lot of fabulous news and plans to share. Not surprising that quite a few new members came on board as a result. Happy days :)

Christmas Party at The Commons 16th December 2016

Rhe perfect ending to 2016 with a strong partnership and possible land in our sights. We frolicked happily on The Commons rooftop garden, bubbly with gratitude for Christmas and hope for the New Year ahead.

The Commons - we are on the top celebrating Christmas whilst the sun sets over a wonderful year
